Nine Months

Nine Months Old

Daily: You are a pretty routine kind of kid. You get up anywhere from 6-7 in the morning, and lately it seems as though you like to get up early (most of the time it’s because you pooped), sometimes you will just sit in your bed and talk to yourself and will put yourself back to sleep. Sometimes you are just ready to get up. When you do, you like to have a nursing session/bottle right away, and then we follow about thirty minutes later with some breakfast. You are taking two bottles/nursing sessions during the day around 10 and 2, and you eat a normal lunch (turkey, cheese, applesauce/fruit), and then usually have a little snack before dinner. You are still taking a morning and afternoon nap, and they vary depending upon what time you got up in the AM (for your morning nap) and how long you slept at your morning nap (afternoon nap). You still really like to take a short siesta before dinner, which we are ok with; it gives us time to get dinner going and organized before we all sit down. You are still going to bed around 7ish, but lately we have been busy so you have been staying up a little bit later.

Eating: You are still nursing, but seem very less interested in drinking your milk, you are obviously too distracted. Nursing sessions are kind of frustrating on both ends, because you tend to think you can just come back and drink whenever you want, but I prefer for you to knock it out in one quick ten minute session. Even when you have a bottle you get distracted. When you do drink a bottle you drink anywhere from 4-5 ounces (mostly 4) and are still learning how to use your sippy cup. I am not sure if you just don’t like the ones we have, or if you just haven’t mastered them yet. You eat EVERYTHING. Whatever we cook for dinner, 98% of the time you will eat it. You have started this thing where you will put food in your mouth and eat it then when you see something else you want you immediately spit it out and put the new food in your mouth. You love bananas, yogurt, applesauce, mac ‘n cheese, grilled cheese, turkey, crackers… ok really, you love anything! Sometimes if Carter has food out you will try to grab it from him and eat it, or you will grunt until he gives it to you.

Bedtime: You are still an early bedtime boy, and you sleep through the night. Now that you can sit up and stand up in your crib though you tend to wake up in the middle of the night looking for your binkie, and sometimes have a hard time spotting it (thanks though to those handy dandy glow in the dark ones, I can easily spot it for you). Most of the time though you find your bink yourself and go back to sleep! It’s amazing! Like I said you take two naps a day and sometimes a mini siesta. You basically love to sleep, your so much like your mama~

Sizes: You are rocking 12-18 clothes, but really some 9 -12 month stuff still fits to. You have rocked your first pair of shoes this month, I bought you these cute little shoes/sandals and they are a size 5; I think they may be a bit big but the 4’s wouldn’t get over those fat tops. You are still in a size 4 diaper and not sure on your weight. We go to the doctor in a few weeks and will find out!

Milestones: You are a full fledge crawler. You are scooting around everywhere and are pretty fast too. You follow us everywhere, and you really love to follow your brother. You can also pull yourself up to standing/kneeling position in your crib, on the couch, on your toys, really on everything and anything you can try to pull yourself up on. You love to do “patty cake”, and “this little piggy went to the market” you start laughing even before I start. You say ma-ma and da-da like crazy, and when we are in the room you will crawl to one of us (usually me) and will say Ma-Ma or Da-Da when you crawl to us. When you hear something on the TV though that you like (Usually anything musically inclined) you usually stop whatever you are doing and listen and sway back and forth to the music. You are getting braver with your sister, Missy, and sometimes try to crawl on her, or better yet, you try to pull her hair. Let’s also mention that you are pretty obsessed with her food bowl and have even dabbled in a few bites of her food. When we tell you “NO” you don’t think of it as a bad thing, you usually just laugh. We are working on that, really we are. You are still a pretty happy kid, but man when you are done eating you are done, you get so angry and do these loud screams that drive us nuts!

You and your brother also have these screaming matches where Carter will scream loud, then you will scream back and back and forth until your dad and I insist on you both stopping. It’s kind of funny, but after a few rounds it gets old. You love the bathtub and love to splash and play. 95% of the time you take a bath with Carter and you two are crazy in that tub. 95% of the time there is a wet mess on the floor, and when I really get to thinking about it, how many more wet messes will there be with you boys, you are growing up so fast, so I should just let them happen, right? You have dabbled in the grass outside and I think you get a kick out of it. You love to swing on the swing set and have gone down the slide a few times (me holding your hands) and you think it is pretty fun. You still love to be snuggled when it is close to bedtime, and I can still put you to sleep at times holding you. I love that you let me do this, because you are growing up so fast and I know soon enough you won’t let me do it anymore, or you won’t want to.

You don’t really have any favorite toys. You seem to play with whatever Carter has out. You do have a slight interest in Carter’s vacuum but anytime you start playing with it he all the sudden has a need to clean up, don’t worry buddy I think you’re going to be bigger than him, so you will be able to fight him for it. You also love his Chuggington cho cho holder and you push it around the living room. Oh, and you have a thing for banging anything and everything you are playing with on the ground, especially the bats. You are still a pretty laid back little nugget and we are still enjoying you every little second. You are getting to be such a big boy and I just cannot believe it!

Love you bug,

Mommy and Daddy
