21 Months - Macy Moo

Gosh - I cannot believe I have not updated on the boys since their birthdays. Mason has grown so much - its hard to believe that just in three months he is going to be two years old.

Picture overload (more blog - scroll down)

Our last visit to the doctor was in Feb and he was weighing in around 24 lbs. He is walking, running, jumping and climbing on everything. When I say climbing I mean climbing - I mean he climbs on anything and everything he can. He has managed to teach himself to move toys to stand on to get on our pub height kitchen table, and just last night he managed to teach himself how to climb on the bar stools to get to the candy jar on top of the bar. He is a smart little cookie.

He loves to talk - and repeats everything you say. Right now his favorite word is - why. Everything we talk about or anything he asks he responds with why. It cute - but a never ending battle of a conversation. He loves to give misses (kisses) and makes sure we give him one (or ten) before bed every night. He loves to snuggle and lays in our bed alot to snuggle and watch his shows. lately he has been letting us hold him and he will fall asleep - it doesn't happen too often, but when it does I make sure to soak it up. He gives great big bear hugs and loves to wrap his arms around you and hold you if you ask.

With all that sweetness he has - he sure has a temper. He wants things his way, and if he doesn't get them he makes sure to tell us NO! lately he has been pretty needy every night after work, he wants us to hold him, and pay attention to him 24/7 - at times this can be a bit frustrating after a long day at work.  He also is a bit sensitive and when we tell him NO he pouts his little lips and starts to cry - a real cry, with tears. Its pretty pathetic - but works (almost) every time. He is mischievous and gets into everything - cabinets, drawers, closets, and most recently he is in the bathroom flushing away. Thank God he has not put anything in the toilet.

He is in the picky stage of eating , and only eats what he wants, when he wants. His diet consists of cheese, ketchup, corn, pancakes, pop-tarts, cheese puffs, any kind of fruit, yogurt, milk and did I mention ketchup- the kid loves ketchup. Not the healthiest of food options - but I am not going to fight the fight of eating, it's a battle I am not willing to fight.

He has been binkie free for two weeks now, and did awesome with giving the binkie up. We told him that mommy threw it away and we haven't looked back. We did have a few nights where he was pretty adamant he wanted it, but we did a little cry it out and then he was fine. Not sure he was ready to give the binkie up, but he is such a big kid that I hated looking at him with it. proud of him for giving it up though - I know it was hard! #meanmommy #iknow.

He sleeps through the night - with the occasionally 430 or 5 am wake up - but will go back to sleep till about 6 or if we are lucky 630. He is an early riser as Carter was when he was little, and now this family is just used to it. He wakes up every day insisting on a pop tart and lately, he wants to get in our bed and snuggle. When he is ready to start his day he lets you know - 'get up mama- and up we are- no matter what time.

He is a big helper and helps put everything away, loves to clean (much like his older brother) and recently started putting the dishes away (sometimes even when they are dirty).

He loves to read- and I mean LOVES - we spend alot of nights reading the same books over and over, and once one of us is done reading to him he takes the book to the other person so that they can read him the book again. He loves his puzzles and is really good at all of them. We have not dabbled in the letters or numbers yet- but he has mastered his trucks, animals, shapes and train puzzles. He loves to put his shapes in his shape sorter, and loves singing the ABC's (well we sing, and he tries).

He is an energetic little guy, with a lot of love, and lot of mischievousness in him. We love this little nugget and love the little personality he carries with him. He brings alot of joy to our family, and we are lucky to have such a healthy and happy little guy.

Hard to believe that in just a few months he will 2!

Till next time -

The Schmidts
